English as a Second Language (ESOL)

 

Summary

The ESOL courses are for anyone who would like to learn English or to improve their existing skills. Times and days of classes are varied according to centres.

What are the entry requirements?

The courses are offered at a range of levels – no formal qualifications are required. Students are placed at a level with which they are comfortable and one which suits their abilities and individual needs.

Will I get a qualification?

You will have the opportunity of achieving a qualification, for example Cambridge ESOL Skills For Life English examination, which will be offered throughout the year.

How do I get a qualification?

The progress of all students is monitored throughout the course and you and the tutor will discuss your progress. If you have made sufficient progress to be entered for a qualification then you will be encouraged to do so.

Progression - What can I do after this course?

On completion of the course, you may decide to use your new or improved skills within the job market or you may decide to go onto a higher level English course.

How long does the course last?

Courses usually run from September to July of the following year.

What do I need for the first class?

Writing paper or exercise book, folder, pen and pencil.
