A and AS Levels
GCE 'A' level and AS level courses are mainly assessed by examination and often have a course work component which usually (but not always) counts about 20% towards the final grade.
You will probably study four subjects in your first year and achieve AS (Advanced Subsidiary) levels in those subjects after one year's study.
In your second year you will continue with three of these subjects and achieve three full 'A' levels. An AS level is equivalent to half an 'A' level. Your Communication, Information Technology and Numeracy skills will be developed in your courses and you will produce a portfolio enabling your key skills to be accredited by one of the examination boards.
