Full time Health and Social Care is a package of subjects specifically chosen for students wishing to progress into Higher Education courses and employment in the Health and Social Care field.
You will study 3 components.
Health and social care
This will allow you to develop knowledge, understanding and skills that will prepare you for progression to undergraduate study. It covers equality, diversity and rights, health and safety, anatomy and physiology, person-centred approaches, mental health, long-term physiological conditions, public health strategies, sexual health and nutrition and lifestyles.
Mental Health
This will allow you to develop your knowledge and skills within the area of Mental Health: Individuals and Society. It will provide you with theoretical knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of mental health that will prepare you for undergraduate study. You will explore how societal attitudes have changed over time and develop practical skills and strategies to positively impact individuals and communities. Key content covered includes: fundamentals of mental health and the individual, mental health wellbeing and society, supporting mental health and wellbeing with physical activity, as well as outdoor and creative activities.
Early Years and Education
This will allow you to engage in a broad investigation of the children’s care and education sector (0-8 years). This component will allow you the opportunity to engage in applied knowledge and understanding tasks which will develop your early childhood development knowledge. Key content that will be covered includes children’s development, keeping children safe, play and learning, research and reflective practice in an early childhood setting.
