This is a full 2-year practical course that is equivalent to three A-Levels. This qualification has been designed by the University of the Arts London (UAL) Awarding Body alongside creative industry professionals and Higher Education providers to supply students with the latest innovative industry knowledge and skills.
Throughout this course, you will engage in a wide range of dynamic briefs that allow you to explore a wide range of contemporary creative industries, build exceptional technical skills and experiment within a wide range of traditional and contemporary mediums. In these projects, you will nurture your ability to generate ideas and produce creative, professional outcomes. Also, you will have the opportunity to work freely across a range of areas that link to current industry practice.
In your first year, you will explore the fundamentals of Art & Design Practice by developing your practical skills in the following areas: printmaking, painting, photography, moving-image graphic design, fashion & textiles, and 3D design. At the end of your first year, you will create a Final Major Project where you will explore and resolve an area of your chosen interest within Art & Design by responding to a set brief (Unit 03)
In your second year, you will develop an in-depth understanding of the industry, employment roles, and Higher Education routes while also preparing progression materials, such as developing a personal portfolio of work. During the last unit of this course (Unit 6), you will be asked to create a specialist creative outcome in which you will apply your developed practical, critical, and reflective skills to create a personal project that demonstrates an in-depth understanding of your chosen specialist industry practice.
