This AS/A-Level is a standard two-year course that will lead to a qualification in Chinese Language from Edexcel. After completing your first year on this course (AS-Level), you will have the opportunity to carry on Chinese to your second year to gain a full A-Level qualification.
The full A-Level will be assessed by three end-of-year exams. The three examinations are:

Employers are increasingly looking for people with language skills, meaning that this is an extremely valuable qualification to have. Combined with other appropriate subjects, A-Level Chinese can assist you with getting a place at university to study a myriad of different subjects. This course creates many opportunities for you; whatever you want to do with your life, languages will help you do it better.

A minimum of 6 grade 4s, including a grade 4 or above in GCSE English Language, is required. GCSE Maths must also be at grade 3 as a minimum. If GCSE Maths is at a grade 3, you would have to resit it.
Additionally, a minimum of a grade 5 in GCSE Chinese is required unless you are a native speaker. All applicants to this course will also be asked to sit a pre-course examination to assess eligibility to undertake this course.
