“Before I studied English at Joseph Chamberlain College, I was scared to talk to my neighbours but now I can talk to them and make new friends!”
Our English Functional Skills Entry level, level 1 and level 2 qualifications are designed to equip adult learners with skills such as writing for a specified audience and purpose, including emails, articles and letters, and also developing speaking skills, which will include engaging in discussion and giving presentations. This course also helps students to gain confidence and employability skills. The Functional Skills course consists of three units: Speaking, Listening and Communication, and Reading and Writing. English Functional Skills runs for one academic year (September – June).
