From September 2017, Joseph Chamberlain Sixth Form College will be offering three exciting new courses: AS & A-level Physical Education, the Certificate in Mathematical Studies (AS Equivalent) and the Certificate in Financial Studies (AS Equivalent).
A brief overview of each course:
AS & A-level Physical Education
This course will allow students to play to their strengths and gain dynamic and theoretical skills for Higher Education or employment. Students will cover a wide range of topics including anatomy and physiology, psychology, biomechanics, skill acquisition, society and technology in sport.
Certificate in Mathematical Studies (AS equivalent)
Mathematical Studies is the new Level 3 qualification for students who achieved a Grade 5 or above at GCSE Maths and wish to develop their practical Maths skills for the real world.
Certificate in Financial Studies (AS equivalent)
Students are encouraged to become responsible borrowers, sensible savers, and have an appreciation of the need for financial planning throughout their life. The course’s purpose is to prepare students for further study through the development of the core skills of critical analysis and evaluation, synthesis, verbal communication (through classroom discussion) and written communication.
Please note that if you have already applied to the College and provisionally chosen your subjects, but are interested in one of these new courses, you will have the chance to discuss this at enrolment in August.
