On Thursday 15th February, Joseph Chamberlain College held a gathering to discuss a recently implemented, innovative homelessness campaign. A host of local and regional policy makers were invited to the College to voice their opinions on the causes of homelessness, the effectiveness of existing strategies, and offered suggestions of how to improve current policies.
As part of the Joseph Chamberlain Homelessness Campaign Team, students from the College’s Student Council, High Achievers’ Programme and Leadership Group are working closely with the office of Liam Byrne MP, to investigate the causes of homelessness in Birmingham with an eye to develop a Manifesto of Change. This collection of recommendations will soon be developed into an extensive social media campaign.
On behalf of students at Joseph Chamberlain, the College would like to thank the offices of The Right Honourable Liam Byrne MP, the Mayor of the West Midlands, Andy Street CBE, as well as the Birmingham City Council Street Intervention Team, Trident Group, Homeless Heroes and St. Basils.
