Students take part in national tournament

While we were enjoying the last of the Easter Holidays some JCC sport students spent the weekend working hard competing in a 3 day sporting event in Nottingham. The AoC Sport National Championships are now in their 39th year and remain the largest student sporting event in the UK. More than 1600 students from across the UK took part in this event. There were 13 sporting competitions being run. JCC students competed in the table tennis, badminton and cricket tournaments against skilled colleges from across the nation.

The students have been competing throughout the year to qualify in this event. They began by playing against local colleges in Birmingham, then went through to the regional championships and finally playing against colleges throughout England and Wales to win the Wilkinson sword trophy.

Congratulations to Akhtar Ali, Rafakat Hussain, Qasim Farooq, Muhammad Usaama Khan, Sukhban Sani and Muhammed Ismail Aziz who came 4th in the cricket match and Tyron Chambers and Mohammed Abdinuur who came 5th in Table Tennis. Special commendation goes to Soyed Alim Mustafa who won the bronze medal in badminton. Well done to all  students who contributed to this event and did the College proud.
