Students and staff have entered their creative entries to our Winter Wonderland competition!
We have received a range of amazing submissions for our Winter Wonderland competition. The brief was broad and invited the artists to give us their take on the theme.
“Your interpretation of the theme could transport us to a fairytale winter landscape. Or take inspiration from the reality of an urban winter in the UK!”
Entries have included oil pastels, digital art, photographs and ginger bread. Our overall winner was Nicholia Brown for her oil pastel art work of Raymond Briggs’ ‘The Snowman’. The judge shared that “the piece had a nostalgia and comforting softness, with beautiful details and blending”. Our runner up prize went to Iqra Bashir, the judges comments were that “the wintry photo of residential Birmingham is a very familiar scene of an urban icy day and recognisable to our local area”.
Honorable mention to Jennifer Linsdell, our Teacher of Media and Graphics, for her Flat Vector Graphics art work. Jennifer has used Illustrator to layer up 2D elements to produce the image. Which is a skill Jennifer is well practised in as she has been teaching it to our Level 3 Creative and Digital Media Production students this half term.
Here we have a selection of our favourite pieces:
