Joseph Chamberlain College Celebrates Nine Successful Medicine Applicants
Joseph Chamberlain College is proud to celebrate the outstanding success of nine students who have secured places to study Medicine at some of the country’s most competitive and prestigious universities. Gaining a place on a medical degree is one of the most challenging academic pathways to pursue, requiring consistently high academic achievement, success in rigorous admissions tests, and strong performance at interviews.
This remarkable achievement is a testament to the dedication, resilience, and ambition of these exceptional students, and to the expert support provided by staff across JCC. To recognise their accomplishments, the College recently hosted a Successful Medicine Applicant Celebration, bringing students and staff together to reflect on their journeys, celebrate with a buffet, and look forward to their exciting futures.
Among this year’s successful applicants is Mashaal Khattak, who achieved an outstanding triple A* in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, and will now study Medicine at the University of Birmingham. Reflecting on her experience at the College, Mashaal said:
“My time at JCC has been very memorable – during the last two years I have felt supported and heard in every aspect possible. The excellent staff and my teachers who always believed in me have made it possible for me to make huge leaps towards my dreams.”
Her parents added:
“We are indeed proud of Mashaal being able to pursue her dream of becoming a doctor. She worked hard to achieve this. This would not have been possible without her brilliant teachers and the amazing staff at JCC; we genuinely acknowledge this and want to thank you all.”
Another student, Aisha Abdi, achieved A*AA in Biology, Chemistry, and Maths, and will also remain in Birmingham to pursue her medical studies. Inspired by a desire to give back to her community, Aisha praised the personalised guidance she received:
“I got personal feedback on my personal statement from my mentor, and the interview workshop really helped me as it put into perspective what the real interview would be like. The Futures Team also gave me one-to-one support, highlighted my strengths and weaknesses, and gave me advice on how to improve.”
Aisha also offered words of encouragement to future applicants:
“Don’t give up when it starts to get difficult – have faith and believe in yourself because I believe in you.”
Neha Sania Islam, who achieved A* in Biology, A in Chemistry, and A in Business Studies, also looks forward to beginning her journey into Medicine. Fascinated by the human body, Neha credited her teachers and the College’s Futures Team for their support, saying:
“I had extremely good teachers who supported me throughout the year. We were also given links to programmes related to medicine which helped me a lot. I enjoyed my time at JCC.”
These three students are among nine incredible students in total who successfully secured places to study Medicine this year. The College is incredibly proud of all nine students for their dedication and achievements.
