Open Days

Joseph Chamberlain College has hosted two Open Days so far this academic year and welcomed well over a thousand prospective students into the college. Joseph Chamberlain College would like to thank everyone who attended in the hopes that all attendees had a fun, educational, and inspiring day.

This year, Joseph Chamberlain College’s students yet again achieved phenomenal results, with 100% of their BTEC Level 3 students passing their course and 99% of their A-Level students doing the same. 70% of their BTEC Level 3 students also achieved Distinction or above, and 60% of their A-Level students attained A* – B. Many prospective students visited their interactive and carefully crafted classrooms to figure out how the college’s incredible teachers will help them achieve these outstanding results and realise their full potential. Joseph Chamberlain College’s teachers are experts in their field and informed everyone who entered about their course and what exciting paths it could lead them down. The members of staff at Joseph Chamberlain College hope you found a new path to tread during the Open Days or furthered your motivation to continue down one you have already considered. One of the college’s fantastic alumni had this to say regarding their Open Days, “It seems like only yesterday that I came to an Open Day at this very college and realised the path I wanted to tread. The members of staff at JCC inspired me to chase a future in Law and helped me to get to where I am now: studying for a Law degree at Lancaster University.”

Many of the other fantastic facilities at the college were showcased at the Open Days on top of their classrooms, including the Library, the POD, Social Street, and the Open Learning Centre (OLC). Joseph Chamberlain College’s newly-renovated Library was well received, containing a wide selection encompassing the classics all the way to graphic novels; whatever genre you enjoy reading, their Library is bound to have something that suits your personal tastes. The POD is an inclusive learning area for students to study in a quiet space, which is run by the college’s friendly and helpful ILS team; it was available to all students who thought they might need access to this space after enrolling at Joseph Chamberlain College. The college’s modern and sleek canteen, Social Street, also proved very popular during the Open Days, doubling as a fantastic place to eat and a bustling social hub. The OLC is a learning space packed with computers for students to work during their free time; throughout the Open Days, this was also being used to host the ‘Apply Now Workshop’, where a member of the college’s staff sat down with every interested prospective student and helped them through the application process, offering advice and guidance where necessary.

The Open Days were also an excellent opportunity to explore some of the college’s spectacular societies and enrichment activities that support their students’ curricular and extracurricular learning, such as the British Sign Language society, the debating society, preparation for driving theory tests, and the creation of the student magazine. Joseph Chamberlain College hopes that you found a society/activity that will suit your interests and enrich your experience at the college after enrolling. The Open Days also provided a useful insight into the multitude of amazing academies that the college offers to expand the academic horizons of their students, such as the sport science academy, health and social care academy, politics academy, and law academy.
