Our Expectations

#KeepEngaging

At Joseph Chamberlain College, we believe that every student has the potential to achieve great things. To help you succeed, we have a clear set of expectations known as ABC – Attendance & Punctuality, Behaviour, and Commitment. These principles guide everything we do and create a positive, supportive learning environment where everyone can thrive.

By following our ABC principles, you are not only meeting college expectations but also developing the skills, values, and habits that will help you succeed in education, work, and life.

A – Attendace & Punctuality

Being present and on time is one of the most important steps towards success at college. We expect all students to aim for 100% attendance, arriving at lessons, tutorials, and activities promptly, with the right equipment and a positive attitude. If you are unwell or unable to attend, you should follow JCC’s absence procedure and let us know in advance.

Regular attendance ensures you don’t miss valuable learning opportunities, while punctuality shows respect for your teachers and peers. These habits will not only help you achieve better results at JCC but also prepare you for future employment and life beyond education.

B – Behaviour

At JCC, we expect students to behave respectfully towards everyone – including fellow students, staff, and visitors. This means following college rules, listening to instructions from staff, and helping to create a safe and inclusive environment for all.

We have zero tolerance for disruptive behaviour, discrimination, harassment, or bullying of any kind. Respecting our facilities, equipment, and the wider community is also an important part of showing positive behaviour. By working together, we can ensure that our college remains a place where everyone feels valued and supported.

C – Commitment

Success at college requires dedication and effort. We expect all students to take ownership of their learning by completing assignments on time and to the best of their ability. Engaging fully in lessons, participating in enrichment activities, and representing the college positively in the community are all part of showing commitment.

Commitment also means being proactive – asking questions, seeking help when you need it, and challenging yourself to improve. The more you put into your studies and college life, the more you will get out of your time at JCC.
