Mental health is a state of mental wellbeing that enables people to cope with the stresses of life, realise their abilities, learn well and work well, and contribute to their community – World Health Organisation 2024
At Joseph Chamberlain College, we are committed to promoting good mental health and wellbeing for our whole community, including students, staff, parents and carers.
We Aim to:
- Provide mechanisms which identify, support and monitor students who are struggling with their mental and emotional health.
- Provide appropriate support, information, advice and guidance for staff and students with a range of mental health needs.
- Develop partnerships with internal and external partners so students are supported and can succeed to the best of their ability.
We Aim to Achieve This Through:
- Our Personal Development Tutorial programme.
- Raising awareness (JCC We Care sessions, student newsletters, etc.)
- Working in partnership with parents/carers where there are concerns about mental health.
- Signposting sources of external help and advice.
- Making referrals and working with external agencies to provide additional support to those who need it.
- Recognising the importance of staff mental health and wellbeing.
- Modelling healthy attitudes and habits.
