FAQs
- When do applications close?
The application closing date is TBC, but we recommend getting your application in before our final Interview Day, which will be on Saturday 14th June. We can also provide application support on the day if you feel like you need assistance.
- I’ve had my interview, but I want to change my subjects. How can I do this?
Not to worry, please attend your personalised Enrolment Appointment with your GCSE results, and, provided you have the necessary requirements, a member of staff can swap your subjects.
- I will be on holiday during my Enrolment Appointment – what should I do?
We strongly recommend attending your personalised Enrolment Appointment and not going on holiday during this time, as we cannot hold places.
- I didn’t get the GCSE grades I was hoping for – what should I do?
Please still attend your personalised Enrolment Appointment, bring your results, and we will discuss the most appropriate pathway for you.
- I am nervous about changing from school to college – is there support available to help new students?
At JCC, we offer one-to-one support for all students. One of the primary sources of support and advice will be your Personal Progress Tutors (PPT). All students are assigned a PPT who will monitor their academic progress and support them throughout their time at college.
- Do I need to wear a uniform at JCC?
We do not have a uniform at JCC. Casual clothing such as a t-shirt and jeans is fine.
- Can I call staff by their first name?
Yes, you can.
- Do I need to wear a lanyard at college?
It is essential that all students, staff, and visitors to the college wear a lanyard. This is to ensure they are permitted to be on-site and to maintain the safety of everyone within JCC. Your lanyard will be issued to you at the start of the academic year.
- How easy is it to travel to JCC?
It is very easy! We are located close to Birmingham city centre and are connected to two bus routes that stop right at our door. The #50 and #8 (running clockwise and anticlockwise) provide a regular service. See the National Express West Midlands website at nxbus.co.uk for more details. We also have secure and covered bike stands for students who wish to cycle to college.
We also provide a free-to-use bus service to make travelling to JCC easier. Please keep an eye out for more information!
- Do you have any other questions?
Please email info@jcc.ac.uk with any questions, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
